This conference in honor of José García-Cuerva is organized by his colleagues, students and friends to celebrate his 60th birthday and his continuous dedication to mathematics.  José García-Cuerva, "Pepe" as he likes to be called, received his PhD from Washington University in St. Louis, where he also spent some time as a postdoctoral fellow. After his return to Spain he has been a driving force in many of the scientific events in Harmonic Analysis that have taken place ever since. Among many others, he has been a main organizer of the celebrated "El Escorial" Conferences and has been editor or coeditor of the Proceedings that these conferences have given rise to. He was also the Principal Investigator of the Spanish node for two consecutive and very successful research projects under the auspicious of the European Commission involving several universities from France, United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Poland, Germany and Spain.

This is also a good opportunity to pay a tribute for one of his most famous pieces of work, the well known monograph "Weighted norm inequalities and related topics", published by North-Holland Publishing Co., and that he wrote jointly with José Luis Rubio de Francia. This monograph, written almost 25 years ago by these two world leading experts in the subject, has been cited hundred of times and has been a continuous source of inspiration for many mathematicians throughout the years.

The conference will take place at the "Residencia San José", the same place as most of the "El Escorial" meetings. An excellent group of outstanding speakers have accepted our invitation to come and to recreate with their talks the nice atmosphere that has always been present in this wonderful town. We hope that you will enjoy it and we look forward to seeing you in November for "Pepe's fest" at El Escorial.
