Title: Cocientes estables de grupos

Title: Asíntotas generalizadas de curvas algebraicas

Title:  Herramientas algebraicas para modelos estadísticos gráficos

Title:  An elementary introduction to Homologial Consjectures

Abstract: The homological conjectures form a collection of conjectures and theorems that have been studied since the 1960s. Early progress has been achieved in the equal-characteristic case. Moreover, many relations between the conjectures have been established. This talk will serve as an elementary introduction to a selection of these conjectures. We will focus on the Direct Summand Conjecture which plays a central role due to its many relations with other homological conjectures. We will restrict to the equal characteristic case which was first established by M.

Hochster in 1973.

Title:  Smooth Fibers, Critical Points, and Flatness

Abstract: Given a family of homogeneous polynomials depending
holomorphically on some parameters, we can ask when the fibers away from
the origin remain consistent as we vary the parameters. We give a sufficient
condition for this to occur - namely, the flatness of the polynomials' critical
loci over the parameter space - by way of the Milnor fibration.

Title: On arc fibers of morphisms of schemes

Abstract: The arc space of an algebraic variety X is the scheme
parametrizing formal arcs on X, first introduced by John Nash and since then
studied extensively in the context of birational geometry and singularity
theory. Any morphism between varieties induces a map of the corresponding
arc spaces. The main goal of this talk is to describe the fibers of this map,
which we call arc fibers. We prove that for quasi-finite morphisms the arc
fibers are topologically finite and that they are scheme-theoretically finite if
and only if the morphism is unramified. If time permits, various applications to
invariants such as the embedding (co)dimension and Mather log
discrepancies are discussed. The material presented here is joint work with
Tommaso de Fernex and Roi Docampo.

Title:  Simple differentially definable functions: avoiding unnecessary singularities

Abstract: In this talk we are going to present the set of differentially definable formal power series (i.e., those that satisfies a linear differential equation with coefficients in a fixed differential integral domain) and explain the main closure properties related with them. The singularities of these formal power series can be obtained from the differential equation. However, the computations of closure properties may create more singularities in the defining differential equations than those appearing in the solutions. We will show that there alternative algorithms that preserve the set of singularities of the differential equations for any set of differentially definable power series.

Title: Algebraic and semi-algebraic phylogenetic reconstruction

Abstract: To model evolution, one usually assumes that DNA sequences evolve according to a Markov process on a phylogenetic tree ruled by a model of nucleotide substitutions. This allows to define a joint distribution at the leaves of the trees and to obtain polynomial relationships among these joint probabilities. The study of these polynomials and of the algebraic varieties defined by them can be used to reconstruct phylogenetic trees.

However, not all points in these algebraic varieties have biological or probabilistic sense. In this talk, we will discuss the importance of studying the subset of these varieties that has biological sense and we will prove that, in some cases, considering this subset is fundamental for the phylogenetic reconstruction problem. Finally, we will present a new phylogenetic quartet reconstruction method which is based on the algebraic and semi-algebraic description of distributions that arise from the general Markov model on a quartet tree.

Title: “Módulos de Alexander y transformada de Mellin

Abstract: The theory of  q-difference equations appeared a long time ago with  Birkhoff's work. It is well understood
in the complex setting. In 2004, Lucia Di Vizio and Yves André, in the paper q-differences and p-adic local monodromy,
gave an equivalence between certain type of q-difference equations and a certain type of classical differential
equations in the p-adic setting. Recently, Michel Gros, Bernard Le Stum and Adolfo Quirós have been working on a generalization
of this result not looking only for q-difference equations, but also twisted equations in general. The framework that they develop
works for equations in one variable. The aim of my presentations is to give an overview of the work I am doing for my
PhD thesis, whose goal is to generalize those results to several variables.

Title: "Singularities of the arc space”

Slides of the talk

Abstract: As the space of arcs of an algebraic variety is an infinite-dimensional scheme in all but the trivial cases, the study of its singularities is a difficult problem in general. One of the most important results in this direction is the theorem of Drinfeld, Grinberg and Kazhdan, which roughly says that the singular information of certain arcs is contained in a finite-dimensional model. In this talk we want to present a slightly different approach using a new formal invariant, which we call embedding codimension. This generalizes the notion of regularity defect as considered by Lech et. al. to the non-Noetherian case. We then prove a finiteness result for the arc space in terms of the embedding codimension and relate it to the Drinfeld model. Finally, we will give an outlook on how to approach a complete description of the singularities of the arc space. This is joint work with T. de Fernex and R. Docampo.

Title: "Jet and Arc spaces of algebraic varieties”

Slides of the talk.

Abstract: In this talk we give a gentle introduction to jet and arc spaces of algebraic varieties from the point of view of singularity theory. On the algebraic side, following Ribenboim and Vojta, we show how jets and arcs correspond to higher derivations of rings. We then summarize some of the most fundamental results of the theory, in particular the formula for the sheaf of differentials of the arc space as proven by de Fernex and Docampo. Plenty of examples will be scattered throughout the talk.

Title: " Métodos Algebraicos en Redes de Reacciones Químicas"

Title: " Analogues for exponential fields of algebraic-geometric notions  "

Abstract: Tarski raised in the 1930's some logical questions about the real exponential field. Answers to these questions did not come till the 1990's in the work of Wilkie and Wilkie-Macintyre (based on work of Hovanski, and insights of Schanuel). Wilkie's work initiated numerous very important uses of the notion of o-minimality.
Work of Zilber about twenty years ago initiated serious study of the complex exponential, from a logical point of view concerning exponential algebraic sets. More dramatically, it revealed the existence of other exponential fields (the Zilber fields) with highly structured notions of exponential dependence and exponential dimension (including a general Steinitz theory). It was conjectured by Zilber that the complex exponential field is a Zilber field. This would imply Schanuel's Conjecture and a very deep Hilbert Nullstellensatz for exponential-algebraic sets.
I will discuss the analysis, algebra and model theory that has gone in to establishing

a rich theory of exponential dimension.

Title: " Differential Galois Theory for some Spectral Problems "

Abstract: In this talk we will introduce the Picard-Vessiot Theory for integrable systems and the Darboux transformations. First, we will present our results on the differential Galois groups for Ablowitz-Kaup-Newell-Segur systems, which are an important kind of integrable systems depending on a spectral parameter $\lambda$.

Next we will focus on  the Schrödinger equation $(-\partial^2+u)\psi=-\lambda^2 \psi$ associated to the Korteweg de Vries hierarchy (KdV hierarchy for short). We will show the algebraic structure of the  fundamental matrices for the Schrödinger equation with potential $u$ in a fixed family of KdV rational potentials. As a by product, we will obtain the differential Galois groups  associated with the mentioned spectral problem. We will also compute  non trivial examples in the $1+1$ dimensional case using SAGE.

Moreover, we will establish the deep relationship between the singularities of the spectral curves, the Darboux transformations and the fundamental matrices for the KdV hierarchy.

Secondly, we will present a family of rational complex potentials $u$ depending on a parameter. We will show that these functions are KdV potentials and compute fundamental matrices for the corresponding Schrödinger equation.

Finally, we will use Darboux transformations for studying orthogonal differential systems from a galoisian point of view. Here the techniques of tensor products of  differential systems are essential tools. Explicit formulas for these matrix Darboux transformations are computed using Maple.

Title: Endomorphism rings and rings of differential operators of finite global dimension

Abstract: In this talk we consider a normal toric algebra R over a field k of arbitrary characteristic. The module M of p^e-th roots of R, where p and e are positive integers, is then the direct sum of so-called conic modules. With a combinatorial method we construct certain complexes of conic modules over R and explain how these yield projective resolutions of simple modules over the endomorphism ring End_R(M). Thus we obtain a bound on the global dimension of End_R(M), which shows that this endomorphism ring is a so-called noncommutative resolution of singularities (NCR) of R (or Spec(R)). If the characteristic of k is p>0, then this fact allows us to bound the global dimension of the ring of differential operators D(R). This is joint work with Greg Muller and Karen E. Smith.

Title: Extension under projection of associated graded rings along a valuation

Abstract: A central method in resolution of singularities is to take a finite projection to a regular variety, and then to make a local analysis of the ramification of this projection to understand which blow ups are required to improve the singularity. In local uniformization, this analysis is made along a fixed, arbitrary  valuation, so it can be very complicated (the value group may not be finitely generated).

The relevant information about this projection, and the effect of the possible blow ups along the valuation, is captured in the extension of associated graded rings along the valuation. The associated graded ring along a valuation was introduced by Teissier; it is central in his work on local uniformization in positive characteristic.

In this talk we define the associated graded ring along the valuation, and consider the structure of the extension of associated graded rings along a  projection, and stable forms of the extension after sufficient blowing up along the valuation.

Title: Hilbert cusp forms with prescribed Casimir and Hecke eigenvalues

Abstract: The main goal is to describe joint work with R Bruggeman (Utrecht) on the distribution of cusp forms for the Hilbert-Blumenthal group in terms of their Laplace and Hecke eigenvalues. A main tool will be a version of the Kuznetsov trace formula that will be first introduced  in the case of the modular group.
