Under current legislation (RD99 / 2011), each academic term in which the PhD student remains enrolled in the PhD Program requires an Academic Supervision process, which is evaluated by the Postgraduate Academic Committee, leading to a final assessment of PASS or FAIL.
After entering the program and before the first Academic Supervision takes place, the student must
- sign a "commitment document",
- present a Research Plan to be developed during his/her PhD studies
From that point on, the process to access the subsequent academic supervisions requires the following steps:
Evaluation of the previous academic term
In order to be positively assessed by the Commission (see evaluation calendar) it is required
- From the PhD student:
- uploading to the SIGMA application the list of activities carried out during the period under evaluation (guide for PhD students), together with a short report on the current status of his/her PhD thesis.
- From the tutor:
- approving the research plan and the activities uploaded by the student (guide for tutors)
- uploading an assessment report on the student's performance during the term.
Enrollment for the following term
Once the assessment process has been completed successfully the student will proceed to the Enrollment process for the following term:

- Enrollment Instructions
- Self-Enrollment Application
