Symmetry in positive curvature and beyond

Abstract: Much of the progress about manifolds with positive (and non-negative) curvature during the past two decades has evolved in the presence of symmetry. This has lead to several classification results, new tools and the construction of new examples. We will give an overview of these developments including a link via polar actions and reflection groups to Tits buildings and its impact.
