Title: Steenrod squares and Khovanov homology
Abstract: Khovanov homology is a powerful invariant of knots with values in bigraded abelian groups very suited both for computational and theoretical approaches. In 2012 this invariant was upgraded to an invariant with values in spectra (topological spaces up to suspension) by Lipshitz and Sarkar. As an immediate consequence of this upgrading, Khovanov homology became endowed with certain operations called "Steenrod squares". In this talk I will give an introduction to Khovanov homology and spectra with the aim of addressing the following question: How does one compute Steenrod squares on Khovanov homology?
